Management at OR Tambo International Airport (Ortia) is working with all relevant agencies to ensure that there is little disruption at the airport during a planned strike by South African Airways (SAA) technical crew members.
Ortia spokesperson Leigh Gunkel-Keuler said in a statement that it was difficult to predict the potential impact of the strike on flight operations, check-in staff and flight crews today (Friday).
“We remain in close contact with South African Airways to ensure that we are prepared for all eventualities,” she said. “We trust that the relevant parties can resolve the situation effectively, and as soon as possible.”
All SAA customers have been advised by airport management to stay in contact with the airline for updates on the status of flights and bookings.
